Flying Lessons

Have you ever felt like you are ready to fly off on a new adventure or to find a new life? Only to see when you get to the point of taking the necessary action to accomplish the goal you desire, you cannot make those steps. Why is this happening? The feeling is of a bird with clipped wings. All of the talents and skills are there, and you know you can fly, but something is lacking. A person clips a bird’s wings to ensure it requires the ability to fly away. It is done by trimming a bird’s primary feathers, known as the “flight feathers.” A bird can’t operate without them and will stay in captivity safely with no ability to explore and fly as it feels needed.

This is the same process we follow in our lives many times. We have a safe, comfortable existence, but we are yearning for more. Only to find we have clipped our wings to remain in the safety of our current life. The positive here is the only limits we face are the ones we create for ourselves, and we can restore our clipped wings at will and fly to whatever destination we choose.

Feel Like Flying?

There is a feeling we all have at times of having clipped wings. Circumstances are working to keep us from flying precisely as we would like, exactly where we want to go. These are the limits we feel. Some are placed on us by our responsibilities to others, and more often, our wings are clipped by our vision of limitation. Each of us has a choice to make in life to remain grounded or caged or make the changes that will allow us to fly.

Most often, though, the limits we face are the ones that are stated in the thoughts we choose to believe, which create invisible bonds to our wrists and shackle us to where we are. But the secret is that they are not real, only imagined, and can be broken, discarded, and left aside anytime we choose. It is fantastic. So often, we experience a desire. For a moment, dream of how great it would be to share it, and then after a brief time, our mind attacks the idea and destroys our will to achieve it with negative comments and all the reasons we can’t possibly do that. That is the voice of your ego, and listening to it will make sure no flight ever happens.

Flight Plans

The ego is not evil. It is a part of you, and we have created it in our lives to protect us from suffering in life or, better, to help us deal with suffering in the best way possible. Any new situation is a threat to you. Of course, there is a potential for pain, but there is also a potential for growth, maturity, and gain as a person and what you can and do contribute to the world. There is a risk involved in any flight you choose to take. Once you dare to take off, there is no limit to where you go and what you can accomplish.

One of the benefits of writing a goal down is it becomes real in a tiny place. Not just a thought in your head, but you created an idea on paper, which is a significant first step. No matter what excuses the mind makes, the written goal is still there to read. And with it is the emotions of thoughts behind it. You want to travel to a destination because you want to see something unique or do something for the first time. Whatever you want to do, it takes courage to follow it and take steps to try.

Beating the Limits

Fear is the primary limit for everybody in everything they do. Fear of failure, what others will think of you, fear of disappointment, or being unsafe. These are just thoughts in your head, which are designed to keep you safe, but life is not intended to be a safe trip. Being safe always leads to little growth and stagnation, and that is no way to live life.

Find your desire for achievement and then strive to follow it. Look into your heart and find the courage to do, act, and take the flight, which is so terrifying to you. You have to surrender to being less than you are or taking a deep breath and seeing if you can fly. Sometimes the flight will come relatively easy, and other times it will take all of our efforts. But the bottom line is you can take that flight. You can heal your clipped wings and leave your “cage” limits behind you, just about any time you want to.

Fly Now!!

Today is the day for you! In some way, take your flight. It doesn’t have to be a three-month flight that changes every aspect of your life at this moment. There is something you have wanted to do in a small way, which you can do right now. Please write it down. Imagine what it would feel like to do that thing. How would your senses react to this thing? Then fly. Take steps to make that thing a reality today. The experience will come, and you can navigate it. One step at a time, stay in the moment and be present at the event. Not the idea of the thing but the thing itself. Let the goal encompass you and permeate into your life. The only person who can clip our wings is us. Take your flight and find your true passion in life.

When you think about flying, it’s nuts. Here you are at about 40,000 feet, screaming along at 700 miles an hour, and you’re sitting there drinking Diet Pepsi and eating peanuts. It just doesn’t make any sense.” David Letterman

Flying may not be all plain sailing, but the fun of it is worth the price.” Amelia Earhart

Sometimes, flying feels too godlike to be attained by man. Sometimes, the world from above seems too beautiful, too wonderful, too distant for human eyes to see . . .” Charles A. Lindbergh

Flying is learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.” Douglas Adams

I don’t fear flying; I have a fear of crashing.” Billy Bob Thornton

A Belief

Belief- an acceptance that a statement is true or that something exists.

It is essential to understand what a belief is and how it affects our lives. A belief is a thought that we supply an attachment to and accept as true and accurate in our lives. What you choose to believe will determine the foundation of your life, and that is a significant thing because it will lead to your reality. If you have an attachment to a belief limiting your potential, you may never be able to create all you are capable of. Be aware today of all of the expectations we have chosen to accept and how they influence your life. Analyze where they come from and what evidence is there to back them up. This vision begins with a focus on your thoughts, words, and actions around your beliefs and how they influence your behavior and control what accomplishments you will experience. (see video)

Don’t Limit You

All people should value themselves and the gifts they bring to the world. You have a gift to get into the world, and the pursuit of life is to find that gift and allow it to come into the world. It will let you light up and, in turn, brighten the world as well. Too often, we have made beliefs that dim our lights limit our efforts and expectations of what we can accomplish and achieve. These beliefs have as much power to restrict us as we allow them to have. It is always up to you which ideas you actively accept and let slide beliefpast. How we feel about our values and abilities is probably the most crucial factor in developing our self-esteem and confidence. Too often, our lights are turned off before we even get a chance to see what we can do because we have decided to accept a limiting belief as accurate, and it isn’t.

People who have chosen to be limited feel the need to limit others and are not fulfilled. Misery loves company, and they consciously or subconsciously deter all others from pursuing theirs. First, because misery loves company, but more importantly, I think if someone else succeeds around them, develops their talents, and finds success,  it makes the folly of their limiting belief apparent. That is a scary thing for them. YOU build your self-worth based on how you feel about your abilities, skills, and choices in life. Choose to look at yourself in the best light. It is not arrogant to love yourself, and it is common sense. We should all understand this is the only life you have. Don’t waste your opportunity living the limiting beliefs of others. Change them, forget them, and see how great a person you can be and what great things you can accomplish.

You Can Do It

It is credited to Henry Ford, but I think anyone who has ever endeavored to achieve anything could also say it. “If you believe you can, your right. If you believe you can’t, you are also right.” No more accurate evaluation of our beliefs beliefhas ever been made. It doesn’t mean that you will never fail; it means that the “failure” is merely a lesson or a necessary step along the path to ultimate success and fulfillment. If you let a setback destroy your belief in yourself, then you will indeed be limited your whole life. You can choose the path of limit or keep going and see what happens next. Learn and grow.

Make a goal, create a dream, and keep on talking nonstop action toward it. This is the path to success in all areas of history. Very few things will come “easy.” They take effort and work. But isn’t that a pretty simple formula? Cut out the harmful noise of others and keep to your task. If you know that you can become whatever you want, why do we let our beliefs stop us?

Creating Positive Beliefs

You only have a relatively short amount of time in this life. You can choose if you spend it being small because someone else thinks you are unrealistic…….. or you can make an effort and take your chances. People are afraid of those beliefwho achieve because they see what they could have achieved if they had believed in their faith and abilities a little more.

Be true to yourself and recognize your beliefs, limiting you and causing you to be modified in your pursuits of fame, money, charity, kindness, or whatever you are looking to create. Recognizing a limiting belief is the first step to changing it and replacing it with one that serves you and your life. You are a great soul seeking expression, and anything or anyone who tells you something that takes away from that limits you.

It is a scary proposition to be responsible for your life, but you are, and if you are not where you wish you were, then take steps to start moving in that direction. It is totally up to you. Create awareness around your thoughts, words, and actions today and see what beliefs dictate your reality and if you are limiting others with your own limiting beliefs.

Allow Abundance in Life

There seem to be two different mindsets people have when it comes to abundance.  Either you believe there is enough of everything or you are worried there is not enough for everyone.  Each of these mentalities leads to a certain experience in your life one of plenty or one of lack.  We seem to experience in life, exactly what we believe in.  The law of abundance states that there is more than enough in the Universe and nothing is limited.  This is a very difficult concept for many to accept because we see perceived lack all around us every day.  But that is only a perception, the reality is yet to be discovered and lies deep in your attitude and beliefs.  How you choose to view things is going to dictate your feelings about abundance.

The Law of Abundance– There is more than enough in the Universe, nothing is limited.

Money is Our Issue

In today’s world, money is the energy that makes things go.  We look at collecting as much money as possible to provide relief, happiness, and freedom.  But so much of how we view money depends on what we were taught and experienced as children. Your attitude about abundance starts right there in your youth.  We learn our basic beliefs from our parents, relatives, society, peers, and others we have contact with when we are young.  These ideas will be formed by the time we are 10 years old and many of the beliefs we accumulate come from there.

As soon as you believe money is an issue for you, panic and/or fear that you won’t have enough run your life and no matter how much you have, there will be a fear that it is not going to be enough.  Money becomes the focus of everything rather than on what you really want. Most want freedom, time, travel, experiences, etc.  These things are not money, although it is perceived that we would be free to do all we desire if money wasn’t an issue.  But we are the ones who make it an issue.  Our attitude dictates our success with and around money.

Abundance and Joy

It is common sense to look at someone who has done what you want to do and emulate them. But when it comes to abundance and happiness, you need to learn to blaze your own trail.  If you do what someone else is doing simply to make money it probably won’t provide both success and joy.  Joy comes from within when we are pursuing our purpose in life.  Whatever that is to you.  Follow your desire and the money will follow.  Most who hear this statement immediately list a lot of reasons this couldn’t possibly work for them.  My favorite is “You can’t eat your purpose.”

When you approach something from that perspective, with a list of reasons you will fail, then most often you are going to fail. That is just too much negative energy to overcome from within yourself.  If you don’t believe in yourself and give your dreams a chance, nobody else is going to.  There is enough in the world to go around. Be grateful for what you have, truly in your heart and more will follow.

Abundance and Lack

Lack seems to be a man-made commodity. The world creates plenty of food, enough to feed everyone, but it isn’t distributed to others because we have a man-made system of commerce.  Food has a value and if that value isn’t paid there is a fear the system will fall down. So the fear of not getting all they can causes lack.  Greed causes lack.  As people look out for themselves and accumulate way more than they could ever need.  This selfishness leads to lack because many feel that other people are not their problem.

This could all be changed if as a collective human race we decided that all lives were of value. Not just a select few. The fact is that they are and it doesn’t matter where they are from, what version of God they worship, the color of their skin, or their age, we are all the same and have a value.  Abundance will come when we see the most valuable commodity in the world is the people. All people. Be Grateful for what you already have and more will follow. Money, love, freedom, creativity or whatever it is you want.

Abundance Mindset

To allow abundance into our lives we need to have the right mindset. That mindset is that anything is possible. Know what you want and believe that it is possible for you.  Not just in the realm of money but in all areas of your life. Want abundance in relationships? Believe that it can happen to you.  One of the most talked about forces behind abundance is the practice of giving.  To give freely without the thought of return increases your personal energy and takes away the feelings of desperation and fear that repel things from your life.

Look at your personal beliefs about having money, being rich, or just being successful.  Take steps to take any negative, limiting beliefs you are entertaining.  Your beliefs about the world dictate the reality you experience.  Building positive thoughts, emotions, words, and actions about having abundance in your life will bring it into your life. Stop listening to negative messages about yourself and recognize that you can achieve what you want. The abundance of money, relationships, and experiences can come your way.
