Research indicates that in many cases when people are feeling physical pain, general malaise and chronic weariness the cause can be linked to unexpressed emotion. As a society, and especially as men, we are not taught how to properly express our feelings or even to notice the message they are trying to send us.
From the time we are young, those figures in our lives responsible for molding our behavior seemed determined to limit us in some way.
Many of the limits were common sense, “don’t play in the traffic”, or “don’t jump your bike off that ten-foot ramp!” These warnings were clearly to keep us safe and maintain our well-being, but there were many warnings that have limited our existence. These did not have the same intent. We were told not to try one thing or another because the pain we might suffer if we failed. As we started to create our image of ourselves, we were immediately placed within the boundaries of fear.
Today Is The Thing
Some live their life grasping with a focus completely on the past, hoping to find out their identity yet ending up with a hand that contains nothing but regrets about what the past has provided.
Today, this moment is all there is for you and the more you branch out your attention from that, the less opportunity there is for enjoying the here and now. Keeping your focus on the task that you are working on will allow you to enjoy life.
What gets you excited about life?
Every person no matter what they do has to find things that get him excited about life. They do not have to be complicated or expensive things. They simply get you going and allow you to feel happy about just living on the face of the Earth every day.
I would never presume to speak for anyone but myself but here are the things that I enjoy and make my existence a much more enjoyable experience.
Life is a wonderful thing. It is destined to surprise you and lead you to places that you anticipated. I believe much of the enjoyment of life comes directly from inside of you and how you perceive the people you meet and the experiences you have.
Sometimes early in the journey of life, you may find life a confusing jumble of mixed messages and emotions. Even the greatest adventurer or psychic would struggle to smooth out the details and work through the challenges faced. Nobody ever said that the life would be easy, but in the end, it has the potential to be the most rewarding journey imaginable.
Masks of Life
It doesn’t matter who you are, where you live or how much you have, you have spent a significant part of your life creating and wearing masks to hide your true identity. Real masks that have become convenient in hiding our true identity in social situations. They bring us power, acceptance or even can allow us to survive. Unfortunately, once used, they become quite permanent.
What is a Soul Mate?
Soul Mate- a person ideally suited to another as a close friend or romantic partner.
In this context I am not sure how anyone could argue against the concept. We all have these people in our lives who are uniquely qualified to be a lover or friend over another person. They provide a unique understanding of the place that you come from and help you understand not only what your journey was about but that you are still OK after taking it.
There are days that you remember because they have a long lasting effect on your life. I certainly have many of these. There are days that serve to remind me of those moments. When my life changed so dramatically that it could never be the same again.
What had been my life was over and what was coming next was unknown and unpredictable. The experience I identified as my life was shattered into a million pieces and no matter how they were put back together they would never be the same, they would never fit snugly.
There are few things more invasive in all of our lives today than the electronic tethers and ties that are continually connecting us to the world. Are we really in need of connection?
Kindness makes the world a better place. Nobody can argue with that
sentiment. The great thing is that all people have the ability to practice being kind each and every moment, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It doesn’t cost anything and the result is always positive. Why then are so many people not kind?
It is probably due to a focus that is spent on the wrong things but we can always change our focus towards the experience of kindness. People always enjoy receiving kindness from others because it feels good. Performing kind acts for others is just as gratifying. Kindness is free and is extremely contagious. Try spreading some around today.
One of the great experiences I have been able to have is to be able to write a lot os great things at my favorite coffee shop, and one of the perks (no pun intended) has been to become friends with the people who work so hard to keep my coffee hot and flowing as I worked my way through many different writing projects. These people don’t know it but their conversations with me provide a lot of writing topics. One of the most common
themes that they discuss is love.
Living life provides a great classroom for learning. It would be easier if we had a manual at the beginning giving clear and unquestionable instructions on how to proceed in life.
Each situation would be so easy to deal with as we navigated our way along our path of life. If we could only tell which bridges were safe to cross, and which ones we should burn and never cross.
I have found this one fact pervasive throughout my life, EVERYTHING we do matters when it comes to our happiness and enjoyment of life.
Every decision that you make throughout every day of you life is a contributor to the essence of your existence. Each decision you make to support someone or to knock someone down will be reflected in your own experience.here are clues everywhere, and you might be able to figure it out, but it would have been so much easier if someone had just sat me down and told me the way things worked. This piece is designed for this, if it informs one person, if it makes one mind think, then it is definitely worth it.
At what time in your recent past have you felt most passionate and alive?
I have felt most passionate and alive right now, there is nothing that could top this moment in time until tomorrow!
There are many people who will look far into the distant past for this answer or maybe dream of a day in the future that might be better or more perfect but to me right here and right now is the place where I feel most passionate and alive.
Have you noticed that the beliefs that you cling to and carry around inside determine what your experience in life is going to be?
Over the past 10 years, I started to look at my core beliefs and have found that my programming had left me with a raft of limiting beliefs that were determining just what the outcomes of many of my experiences were going to be.
I have been carrying around a lot of things that are silly, self-defeating, demeaning and just plain wrong. It was under these conditions that I determined to see if I couldn’t change them a bit, because as I saw it until they were different nothing was going to change.
What is the difference between living and existing?
When you look back on your life are you going to remember the times you decided to not try and stretch yourself and accepted what life has given you?
Or will you think back onto the moments where you gave it your best effort and either exceeded beyond all expectation or failed miserably?
Either way, you were fully engaged in the process of finding what you were made of. I believe that much of the difference between living and just existing stems from this search to measure ourselves.
Never give up on yourself
All people have moments when they have to question themselves. Things in life won’t always go your way and there are going to be a lot of times when it may seem hopeless. Everything you encounter seems to be against you and it can become somewhat unbearable and in that moment of darkness and frustration, you may feel like giving up. Those are the times when you should stick with it because there is a great moment for changes that will bring good things into your life that you are looking for. Change is constant and inevitable and will allow for tough times to end.
Creativity to me used to be a word that I thought only others could do. I never felt that I was much of an artist or a craftsman at anything at all. My art was ridiculous, by writing was atrocious and anything else I tried to make was a mockery to anything called perfection. It was with this attitude that I started this journey of creation. Shortening the space between myself and the world.
I’m a Rule Breaker
As a human being living on the Earth, you are constantly bombarded with warnings from the time you are born, until the time your life here is done. People tell you the rules, clearly and with very little gray area, what is acceptable behavior and what is not. Some were designed to keep you physically safe, but many were designed to keep you from being original, or standing out in any way.
Look around you and see what is there to stop you from achieving personal growth. As I examine the life that I am living I see things that appear to limit what I can accomplish. There are walls, both literally and figuratively around me, that make taking some actions seem difficult to nearly impossible. The excuses of life are used, one on top of another, each with their own fear. Unfortunately, it seems that once you start to accept limits in one area of life they will creep into all parts of your life and stop you from not only being your best, but also accomplishing your worthwhile goals and dreams. Don’t be discouraged, the exciting thing is that if you look inside yourself there is an answer. It is the strength and courage to accomplish great things. You have to believe in yourself and doing this is the best kind of personal growth.
