Flavoring Success

Failure Is the Condiment That Gives Success Its Flavor – Truman Capote

4e267__8722913709_47950e8ae3_zSociety teaches that failure is to be avoided at all costs. We are taught that failure is a fate that is so egregious that it might just permanently mark you for life. It is such a problem that people go to great lengths to make sure they are never associated with failure. Yet failure persists because there is value in the experience of failure. Those who learn to deal with the specter of it will be able to rise to their highest heights. Those who fear it will never accomplish much.  Where there is great reward there is always great risk. You can’t have one without the other.

Word of the Day

Attitude-a settled way of thinking or feeling about someone or something, typically one that is reflected in a person’s behavior.

attitudeAttitude is everything because it is a result of the way we think and feel about everything. If you are not conscious of your attitude and why you think or feel a certain way about something, then you are at the mercy of that thought pattern. Many of our damaging issues, resulting from low self-esteem stem from our attitude about ourselves and perceptions about our abilities and values.  Today make a pact with yourself to be conscious of your attitude today and the resulting experience that comes from it.  Look at your thoughts, words, and actions and see how they reflect your attitude toward life, other people and most importantly yourself.

Encouraging Word of the Day

Persistence- firm or obstinate continuance in a course of action in spite of difficulty or opposition.

persistenceThere is a power inside people who who are successful and that power  is the quality is persistence.  To be able to continue moving forward to a goal, despite hitting some obstacles along the way. Nothing takes the place of persistence when it comes to achieving anything, financially, physically or even spiritually.  Many things that are worthwhile to our experience are not easy to get.  It is often the steps that one has to take in reaching their ultimate goal that make the goal so valuable.  Persistence is the ability to push past your perceived limits and find your abilities.  Consciously look for persistence today in your thoughts, words, and actions today. Where can you push through, keep moving forward and find success?

Learn From Your Mistakes

Everyone Makes Mistakes

Everyone makes mistakes
It’s OK To Make Mistakes

It is an inevitable part of being human that we all make mistakes in life.  Nobody is perfect, no matter how hard we try to be.

That has always made we wonder: Why are we all so hard on ourselves when we do make a mistake?  When you really analyze things you can see that failure can be a real bitch to deal with, nobody would choose a mistake and the trauma that comes along with it over the easy sailing of success, but that leads back to the point, no matter who you are, no matter how smart, funny, popular or talented, you are going to make mistakes and experience failure at some point in your life.

30 day challenges
The First of Many I Hope

by Jonathan Hilton

Have you ever seen the focus of your life change in thirty days? This is the experience that I have had over the last month as I have looked to improve my writing skill and myself, as a person as well.

This is an evaluation of my project to answer one question each day for thirty days, and to work on putting more of myself into my writing for the purpose of being more honest and open about the things I write about.
