playLife often seems to be a very serious and practical experience and that makes people miss the truth behind it. Life is a game and once you accept that and learn how to play it, it will become a much more enjoyable and recreational experience.  Like any game, there are challenges to overcome and strategy to implement.  Most people never realize this is the case. They spend their life soberly moving from one square to the next,  regretting moves they made in the past or fretting over challenges that may come tomorrow.  Life is a game that is played in the now because that is all you are guaranteed.  Never forget to play as you move through life and it starts with an awareness of this game happening right under your nose, with your thoughts, words, and actions.

The question that can launch a thousand ships

Many times there is something that we have been meaning to do that we continually put off until tomorrow because of the potential consequences.

Or the fact that there is change involved and change is a scary thing because nobody really can guarantee you that whatever you are looking to do will in fact be better than what you have already.

This is enough to stop many adventurous people from pursuing an avenue of change, but should it?

All That Glitters

All-that-is-goldOne of my favorite stories of my youth was The Lord or the Ring trilogy by  J.Rs.R. Tolkien.  I loved the fantasy of it and yes I was a total geek about it throughout my life.  I had the occasion to read the poem All that is Gold Does not Glitter, the other day, and I wondered why I liked it so much.  This article attempts to explain my attachment to this poem and the connections I make to my life today.
