Dreams Provide Fuel to Take You Anywhere
Have the courage to follow your dreams. It’s the first step towards attaining your destiny. – Nikita Koloff

Dream Big, As Big As the Ocean Blue
As I grow older and continue to move through the confusing maze that is life, I had occasion to think about all of the dreams I had as a younger person. Not only do I wonder what happened to the dreams I had, but I wonder what happened to the person who was dreaming them?
Somewhere along the line, the ability to dream seems to have been interrupted by the expectation of others, the demands of life, the need to fit into what was expected, to be safe, to be secure, to avoid disappointment all became much more important than dreams.
It is at this point that I have decided to let the dreams of my life come back to me. So I asked myself, “Self, what would you do if you could do anything at all?
There are no limits, all you have to do is think about it and it’s yours.” To answer myself honestly, I had no freakin’ idea what I really would do if I could do anything. That is the true, sad answer, that after 45 years of experience in life, I didn’t know what my dream was. I did know that if I wanted to be happy that I had better find out so that it had a chance to come true.
Many people I think are like me, that we have forgotten what it was like when we dreamed about what life would give us on a regular basis.
Maybe it was dreams of being a race car driver, or a doctor, or an NBA player, whatever the dream was, when you are a kid you do this on an almost daily basis. And you are not limited to one dream, you can have an infinite amount if you are creative enough to think of them.
It is important that we all hold on to our dreams, as we grow and develop as people. To dream is to dare, to dare is to live and to live is awesome. The ability to move boldly in the direction of your dream is the ability to succeed beyond your wildest expectations.
Many will tell you to stop dreaming and get real. Life is hard and you better learn it early so that you can avoid the disappointment of not getting what you dream. But I say that life will be as hard as you decide it will be.
Just because there will always be challenges doesn’t mean you shouldn’t dream, it just means you should use your dreams to help get you past the rough patches that life will inevitably throw at you.
Often times its the journey towards the thing that we dream about, that provides us with the substance of our life.
Personally I have to start with small dreams and work my way up to bigger and better ones in the future. I have to pick one small thing to dream about…..one small thing to hope for…..one thing that will fuel me through the day, and I challenge you to do the same.
Soon we will both be dreaming big, fantastic, outstanding dreams and our lives will not be able to help duplicating our dreams.

Love this: “To dream is to dare, to dare is to live and to live is awesome.” Seems like almost everyone I know these days is taking another look at life, and our reason for being here~ myself included! Great post.
Thanks Amy !I am glad you like reading this. If you are seeing a lot of people who are really evaluating life it could be because you are reevaluating things yourself. I am greatful for the comment.
You got it right – it is a time of transition for me as well! Life is good ~ even in the crazy moments.
Love the dream quotes! Its for exactly everything you wrote up there that I started my blog
Awesome post!
Thanks Kim! I certainly am glad you started your blog. I hope all of your dreams come true.
I agree, Jonathan, let’s keep dreaming. Creating possibilities. Let the details take care of themselves. {{{Hugs]}} Kozo
You got it. I agree, the devil is in the details and things can happen in wondrous ways if you relax and stay out of the way. thanks for reading Kozo. You are the man!
Like the song you included. I think my problem has always been I either don’t dream at all, or I dream too big. But if I could choose, I’d choose the second. At least then you have something to strive for…
Cheers to making your dreams come true, Jon!
Thank you so much Alarna Rose for reading and commenting. I think we should all dream big, because you never know what you might achieve. Clearly you are going to write and publish a series of highly successful and critically acclaimed children’s books. Then become rich of royalties. Buy 100 televisions, (making up for childhood) and retiring to a tropical island.
Thank you for participating. I appreciate it so much.
Hehe! That gives me great delight! Thank you and you’re welcome
I can really relate to this! I’ve also lost touch with my dreams. I follow a great blog about a 30yo guy who has quit his job as a teacher, to follow his dream of becoming a ninja. It’s wonderful to read his progress, and it has made me question my own dreams. So many times I have thought about it, and so many times I have come up with absolutely nada. In my adulthood I have moved so far away from them that I can’t even remember what they are anymore. It’s a work in progress to find them again
Very inspiring. It’s true when we are young we love to dream. Unfortunately, we learn to stop. So now, the secret is we have to unlearn what we’ve learned up until this point and try to remember who we were when we didn’t have limitations.
Thank you so much for your comment. I agree completely, remembering who we were and what our dreams were, despite all that we have learned is the secret I think for happiness. I appreciate your comment! Come back any time.
