You’ve decided to start playing golf for the first time and have booked your first golf lesson at the local driving range. Before your first lesson the most important thing to do is purchase a suitable set of golf clubs; a golf set is the most cost-effective addition to your setup at the beginning of your golf career instead of purchasing golf clubs individually and a golf bag to store and transport the clubs to and from the golf course or driving range. Which items of golf equipment are included in a beginner’s golf set? Four types of golf club are usually included; these are known as woods, irons and putters in addition to hybrid golf clubs which is a cross between an iron and a golf wood. In the game of golf a player is allowed to carry up to 14 golf clubs in their bag – in any combination. The cost of golf lessons from a professional can be expensive in addition to purchasing new golf clubs and equipment. If you’ve considered purchasing a set of used golf clubs before your first lesson – be cautious. Used golf clubs can work out to be a false economy if the items arrive with worn grips, fractured shafts (graphite) or missing head-covers. The cost of purchasing new golf clubs for beginners has fallen drastically in recent years with online retailers like The Sports HQ supplying factory direct golf equipment – offering typical savings of up to 85% - compared to the traditional retail store. The Sports HQ for example manufacturers and supplies beginners golf sets in men’s, ladies and junior editions – with prices starting as low as £29.99 for a junior golf set to £49.99 for a beginner’s set of adult golf clubs. New golf sets from The Sports HQ all carry a 12-month manufacturer’s warranty for extra piece of mind; each golf set is tailored for the specific requirements of the player – for example lady flex shafts in graphite and stainless steel are fitted to all clubs included in the ladies golf set. The Texan Classics Junior Golf Set from The Sports HQ features junior flex shafts on all clubs including a titanium 3-wood, 7-8-iron and putter. All beginners’ golf sets include a deluxe stand bag to securely store each club to and from the golf course. The Chicago SGS Complete Golf Clubs Set in men’s, ladies and left-handed includes a titanium 3-wood, a 3/4 hybrid rescue club which replaces the 3 and 4 long irons, in addition to 7 cavity back titanium reinforced irons (5-6-7-8-9-PW-SW) – all fitted with stainless steel shafts; the set is completed with a heel and toe balanced putter. All woods and irons included in the Chicago SGS set for beginners feature oversized club-heads for increased forgiveness on off-centre shots – this also inspires confidence and motivation to continue learning and practicing. After progressing from the driving range to your first outing to a pitch and putt or actual golf course you’ll also require a number of inexpensive golf balls for the duration of the course. All players lose the odd golf ball here and there in the beginning; the transition from driving range to golf course is a big one – suddenly a number of environmental factors like wind speed and direction come into play, and for the newcomer this can translate into the occasionally lost golf ball. The addition of water and sand hazards can also play a main role in losing golf balls. There are two inexpensive solutions to replacing lost golf balls; lake balls are used golf balls which are salvaged from the bottom of vast lakes across the world and reconditioned to a Grade A standard; lake balls offer players the chance to play top brands including Titliest, Noodle and Strata at a fraction of the cost of brand new golf balls. A 2-dozen mix of grade A golf balls can be purchased for £4.99 from The Sports HQ. If you’re determined to play new golf balls – a 2-dozen box of Prosimmon Tour golf balls can be picked up from the same online retailer for £5.99.

Golfers will do anything they can in hopes to play better golf and hit the LONG ball. Am I right?
Are you in this group of golfers? If so, I’m quite confident to say you’ve taken a golf training system / lesson or or two. Golf training lessons can be very effective in getting you back on track, if your swing has gone south. But, not always….
Why is that so? Let me explain…
How many golf training or lesson have you taken, only to be more frustrated, disappointing at your scores & performance and hitting the ball worse than before that golf lesson?
Do you know why this is happening even to veteran golfers? It can be many different reasons, such as too many swing thoughts and possibly your behavior; making drastic changes that require hours at the range and hitting thousands of balls; or lastly, your body just can’t effectively move in the way it needs to, to make a mechanically correct golf swing, and many more hidden reasons….
I’m inclined to say that for the majority of golfers, especially the older golfer, it’s the last reason above. Your body just can’t move the way it needs to. The question now is, why is that so?
Why can’t your body do what you know it needs to do to swing the club correctly? It can drive you to the point of quitting the game.
But there is hope. There is an approach that will almost 100% of the time correct this problem. Do you want to know what it is? It’s addressing your “physical body and your mind limitations”. That’s what’s keeping you from a great game of golf.
Do you know that hypnotherapy and even the misconceived NLP can improve your game of golf?
Do you ever get on the course and just feel like you can’t make a full backswing? Or, it just feels impossible to maintain your golf posture and “stay in your swing”?
No amount of golf training systems or lessons or hitting balls will correct this.
The reason is your “physical and mind” issue, and until you work on it, it will never get better. I’ve seen it time and time again. Golfers walking off the course in pure disgust.
They’ve taken many golf training systems or even paying tons of money for lessons that they already knew, hit balls at the range, and even bought the latest, greatest titanium drive; and yet still can’t play like they think they are capable of.

Ah, the simple golf swing. Only, it’s not so simple. When swinging a golf club, almost every part of the golfer’s body takes part. The forward press in the golf swing involves the legs and that’s just the beginning. The hands, arms, hips, back, shoulders all take part in this most complex exercise.
It is said that of all the great PGA golfers, only Ben Hogan had the perfect golf swing for every club. So, how does the every day golfer wade through the different swing methods to find the golf swing that fits his or her golf game?
There are many different ways. Golf lessons are always a good way to start, but the teaching golf professional must understand your golf game. That includes your handicap, your physical condition and the amount of time you will actually spend practicing your golf swing. His analysis should include watching you driving the golf ball and hitting fairway woods and the complete range of irons. Then, the golf pro should tailor your swing training to your individual skills.
I learned this lesson the hard way. Many years ago, I took some golf lessons. The pro believed, what he thought, was the best golf swing method that encompassed all the biomechanics of the perfect golf swing. Not for me. After a month of lessons, I had lost over 20 yards in distance off the tee and my scores rose by 8 points. I quit my lessons, bought a great little book by written by former PGA golfer Tony Lema and in a few weeks my game was back to normal. Since then, my golf swing instruction has been from golf books, an instructional video or two and golf swing teaching aids. I never had another lesson and even in my sixties I can still break 90.
There are many different swing styles and golf equipment and tips.com is filled with articles and videos filled with instructions on how to swing the golf club. They breakdown the swing to its simplest form and from taking back the club to the release, provide instructions on how to add power, distance and accuracy to every golf shot. We even have a free 118 page e-book filled with all sorts of great information about improving your golf game.

Anyone who is considering golf training will be happy to know that there are plenty of ways to learn how to play the game. Every way from the golf course to the internet, the video store and even the classroom will prove to be beneficial for those wanting to learn how to play the great game of golf. Prices will vary depending on the type of training method that is chosen, but can often be quite affordable. This is especially true of those who opt for learning at home through the use of videos or internet lessons. A professional golf trainer, however, will likely be the most expensive way to learn but will provide a hands-on experience that none of the aforementioned options can.
If you choose to hire a golf instructor, you will probably want to hire someone who has a lot of experience in either teaching or playing golf. Or, if possible, find someone who has done both. During this training, you will begin to learn the various names for clubs and how each one is used. In the beginning, golf may seem intimidating because of the number of clubs and situations that determine each one’s use. But, after a few lessons, you will be more familiar with the game and how to play it. Patience is the key to learning anything new and golf is no different.
Even prior to hiring an instructor, some new golf players may decide to learn some basics of the game before beginning the actual lessons. This can be accomplished by either purchasing books, videos or doing some research online. Either of these methods should provide an introduction to clubs and their use, the proper way to grip and swing. With this information, any new golfer will enter their learning phase with added confidence and will impress their instructor by how much they already know. Not to mention, anything that you can learn beforehand may end up saving you some money on the actual lessons.
With that being said, it’s important to know that there is nothing wrong with taking golf lessons if you are a true beginner. Even if you have never held a club before or if you think a club is the symbol found in a deck of cards, fear not. Golf instructors are there to help you to learn from scratch if that’s what you need. During your lessons, it will always be a good idea to have access to a set of golf clubs and possibly even practice a little in between lessons.
Many golf instructors work one-on-one with their students, while others prefer to educate to a group of individuals. Those who prefer to learn as much as possible, but without doing so with hands-on training may opt for online lessons. The only drawback is that this method does not provide actual practice, which can be sought separately by the learner. Friends and family can often provide valuable insight in helping one to learning how to play golf without professional instruction.
