Keeping The World Safe
I recently have started watching a lot of films and television shows on a site called the Film Annex. As the name might imply they do have a large quantity of films and TV shows that you wouldn’t be able to access anywhere else. One of the features that I really like is the ability to cross post some of my writing. Articles that I write here on my blog can be shared on my “blog” on their site as well, which increases both my visibility and theirs.
One of the first films I watched was about NATO’s efforts to control any type of cyber attack. They basically use people with an extreme understanding of computer viruses and all of the many programs that can mess up our infrastructure, or the infrastructure of our allies. These people have amazing skills and continue to basically, for lack of a better description, play games to gain awareness and understanding of how to respond to any sort of cyber attack.
Getting countries to work together can be difficult because of language barriers and a different level of interest by their home government. NATO is trying to raise the protection of all companies to a “safe” level so that they can help to fight off any type of attack on the financial systems or electrical systems of a country. If a threat is spreading around the world, it has to be met with a global response.
This film shows the threats that exist and the steps that NATO is taking to ensure the safety of our infrastructures, energy to communications. It is shocking to see that one of the leading characters in this process looks to be in his early twenties. Makes you wonder what kind of experience we are really using here. I am sure that there are older more experienced people behind the scenes, it would make people feel a lot more secure with our NATO protection.
